Sussex Wedding Photography Blog

I photograph weddings across Sussex – from barn celebrations in Chichester to the coast near Eastbourne. If you're planning a relaxed day at venues like Long Furlong Barn, Wadhurst Castle or Grittenham Barn, you'll find a few favourites below.

Do I need a Second wedding photographer?

It's a question I get fairly often: one photographer or two? Usually it’s because couples want both sets of morning preparations captured, coverage of multiple locations, or there’s a larger wedding where there’s simply a lot happening at once.

How I usually work
Most weddings I cover alone. My documentary approach means I can tell the full story without being intrusive. I move quietly through the day, capturing natural moments as they happen, so nothing feels posed or staged.

When a second photographer makes sense
Some weddings do benefit from having two photographers. This might be when you’re getting ready in different locations, or when you want extra coverage at a big wedding. I have worked in churches where a vicar has stated that you can only shoot the ceremony from one view point at the front the church and not move. This can be where’s it’s useful to have another photographer to shoot from the back of the church. 2 photographers doesn’t mean twice the pictures. Just a different viewpoint

Someone I trust completely
If a second photographer is needed, I bring along someone I’ve worked with for over 15 years. He understands my approach perfectly, blends seamlessly into the day, and never gets in the way. I trust him so much that he photographed my own wedding (and I photographed his)

Here’s a moment from my own wedding in Brighton, captured by him. A second photographer is available if required, starting from £650. Have a look at my prices
Does two photographers mean double the cost ?
No ! Because my second photographer only turns up and photographs the day and thats it. All the post processing, admin and stress is handled by myelf !

Whats the difference between an assistant photographer and a Second photographer?   I don't work with assistants. I don't need my bags carried, I don't need help with lighting and I don't ever work with photographers who arent experiecned and that I have worked with before ! My collegue doesn't need me to tell him to "stay out of the way" he completly gets how i work and compliments my coverage not hinders it.

I understand how stressful planning can feel—and I only recommend two photographers when it truly serves your story, not just the price point

Still unsure? Let's chat about your day.

Every wedding is unique. If you’re undecided on one vs. two photographers, drop me a message with your venue and plans—I’m happy to offer honest, no-pressure advice tailored to your day.
