Brighton Engagement Photography – Fun, Candid & Totally You

There’s something special about engagement shoots. No strict timelines, no guests watching – just the two of you, out in the fresh Brighton sea air, having a laugh and getting some beautiful, natural photos together.
I’m Michael – a wedding and engagement photographer based right here in Brighton. I shoot relaxed, documentary-style sessions for couples who want to feel comfortable, be themselves, and come away with some genuinely lovely moments captured.

Whether you’ve just got engaged (congrats!) or you’re planning a little pre-wedding session to warm up in front of the camera, I’d love to be part of it.

A lot of couples ask me this – do we need one?

And honestly, no – you don’t. But they can be a brilliant way to get used to being in front of the camera (especially if one of you is a bit camera-shy), to mark this chapter of your lives together, and to just spend some time having fun in a beautiful place.

It’s a bit like a date, but with better lighting and a photographer tagging along.

Plus – if I’m photographing your wedding too – it’s a great chance for us to get to know each other before the big day.

What’s included?

Every engagement shoot includes:

  • Around 60–90 minutes of relaxed, natural photography
  • Location planning help if you’re not sure where to go
  • A private online gallery with high-resolution images
  • A few gentle tips on what to wear (spoiler: something that feels like you)
  • Zero awkward posing – I’ll guide you just enough to keep it natural and fun

When’s the best time to do it?

The golden hour – that bit just before sunset – is always magic. But honestly, Brighton looks great in all seasons. I’ve done engagement shoots in frosty winter mornings, breezy spring afternoons, and moody, windswept November evenings. Each has its own vibe.

Let’s make it official(ish)

If you’re planning an engagement shoot in Brighton (or anywhere nearby), I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re newly engaged, planning a proposal, or just want a few brilliant photos of the two of you together – let’s chat

Bonus tip: make a day of it

After the shoot, go grab fish & chips, have a drink at your favourite pub, or just take a stroll and soak it in. This whole process is about capturing a part of your story – not just staged smiles, but who you are together.

And that, for me, is what makes it all worth photography. How much? have a look at my wedding photography prices.
